Port Colborne Art Crawl 2018 & Fundraiser Paint Party

CaptureI will be a participating artist at the Port Colborne Art Crawl again this year.  Some of my artwork will be in the Canalside Kitchen Store on West St. and I will be having a Fundraiser Paint Party at the new Breakwall Brewing Company on Clarence St., helping to raise funds for scholarships for the students at the local high schools, Port Colborne High School and Lakeshore High School

port-dalhousie-sunset-painting-malowanyThe Paint Party has a Port theme, “Marina Sunset”, with lots of room for variation!  Even if you have never painted before, this will be a fun afternoon, as I will be walking you through, step-by-step.  Experienced Artists are welcome to join in the fun, and I don’t mind at all if you take your painting in a completely different direction. Get your tickets on our website now, limited seating!

Breakwall-logoCome on out and and enjoy some wonderful craft beer, great food, and  bring your friends and family.  The Paint Party is from 2-4pm, so you can come for lunch, then paint, order food and drinks while you paint, or stay after for a meal.  They have a great variety of food to appeal to everyone, and I love their spicy bean burger!  9 O’Clock Whistle, is my favourite beer, but the first time we went we ordered a Flight so we could sample several, and all were very good. This year’s Art Crawl features  live music, demonstrations, activities, local artists & exhibitors.  There’s something for everyone, and runs from 2p.m. – 11p.m.

A new addition this year is a children’s area with a bounce house, face-painting, interactive activities, a scavenger hunt for all age, and more.

Musicians performing include Katey Gatta, Brandon Ruch, Mark Clout, Christopher Madronich (Gravely James), Niels Pedersen, Karen Bonnisteel, Michael Metzger, Sing Niagara women’s chorus, Three For All women’s trio, folk duo Probable Fog and The Hard Rock Hooligans.

Also, starting at 7pm, Art Battle will begin, when artists will battle the clock as they work to create a masterpiece in 20 minutes.

Nanook the Service Dog Needs Help

nanook-service -tagI found out about Nanook and his owner’s plight on Facebook and had to help in any way I could.  He is a service dog who has a large growth behind his ear that needs to be removed.  It may or may not be cancerous, but the vet won’t be able to determine that until it is removed.  His owner does not have enough money to pay for the surgery since she is on a very small fixed income, and has no credit cards.  Her daughter set up a GoFundMe, but she is far from the necessary funds and Nanook is running out of time.  I donated to Nanook’s GoFundMe but wanted to do more to help.

on-guard-painting-wendy-malowanyI have an original oil painting I created for a Celebrating Wine Country exhibit at the Niagara Pumphouse Gallery a couple years ago, titled, “On Guard”.  The subjects of the painting are the Southbrook Vineyard’s sheep and the shepherdess’s dog.  Since Nanook looks a lot like her, and appears to be a Great Pyrenees, or have some in him too, I decided to put the painting up for auction with 100% of the sale price going to Nanook’s surgery.  If you, or people you know, may be interested in the painting, please share the “On Guard” auction page.

I also have a Paint Your Pet Fundraiser with the money raised going to Nanook’s surgery.  If you would like to attend, please buy your tickets as soon as possible because I will send the money to Nanook’s family as tickets are sold, rather than wait to the event so they can the money in time to save Nanook.  Get your  Nanook’s Paint Your Pet tickets on our website events.

Thank you for anything you can do to help Nanook!

Day 7: Purple Irises

Day 7 painting for my 30 paintings in 30 days challenge, is “Purple Irises”.  This will be a fun Paint Party painting, with a lot of variation in flowers and colours.  The colour of the photo is a bit off, with the flowers looking a bit more blue, and back ground more yellow than the painting.  I got busy with other things and lost daylight before photographing the painting so will retake the photo of the painting tomorrow when photographing Day 8 painting.
