This summer we will be holding Art Workshops for all ages 9 and up (a younger child may attend if attentive and attending with an adult participant) If you would like to try a class, do something fun with a child or grandchild, or bring a friend, this one-day class is perfect! We have different Art Workshops on different days and times throughout the summer, and if workshops fill up, we may add more on different days, so please check our event schedule frequently!

My Pet Art Workshop

In this art workshop, students will create artwork of their pet (or a relative or friend’s pet):

  • learn painting techniques for creating fur, feathers and other textures
  • drawing and painting techniques for animal eyes and capturing animals’ personalities
  • create a pet portrait in acrylic on canvas
  • paint a pet portrait on glass
  • put the image of your pet portrait on a t-shirt or other fabric such as a cloth bag.

All materials are included, EXCEPT you need to bring a t-shirt or canvas/cloth bag. Please send pet photos prior to class so Wendy can crop to size of canvas and print for you.

The studio has air conditioning running in hot humid weather to keep everyone comfortable. If students would like to visit the animals and the garden, Wendy will give a tour at the end of the art workshop, weather permitting.

Pet Portrait photo requirements:
Send several photos via email that have a good range of lights and darks. Choose clear photos that show your pet’s eyes and expressions you like which capture his/her personality. Close up head shots at your pet’s eye level are better than taking the photo looking down at your pet, and not so close that noses appear bigger than they are. A little background around pet is fine as I will crop to the proportions of the canvas, but the pet should take up approx. 3/4’s of the photo. High resolution of 300 dpi is good, but if you aren’t sure, email the photos and we’ll let you know if the resolution is good.  Send your photos right after you register and purchase your ticket by replying to the confirmation email or email  to:  wendy [at]  Remember to include name of person who purchased the tickets, the event date and location.  Contact Wendy with questions.

Please Note:  we have studio cats, who generally hide during Art Workshops, but do live in the studio, in case of allergies.

Payment can be made below, or by cheque, e-transfer, or cash. Contact Wendy to register if you are not purchasing a ticket below.  Please indicate in the comments the first name(s) of who you are registering, and their ages if under 18 yrs. old.
