March 2019 Photo Contest: Cats

gabby-cat-painting-malowanyJanuary I held a photo contest, with the theme of dogs, and it was great to see all the photos, and very difficult to judge! Last month’s theme was Winter, and for March the theme is Cats, so post your best photos!  You need to post your photos on my original Facebook post or Artist Facebook page.  I realized in January some people posted photos on a shared post in a group instead of the original post or my Artist Facebook page, and I missed some photos! Make sure you read the photo requirements here, then use the link to my Artist Facebook page to “like” and “share”.

The winner will get one free 6″x6″ original painting, or can upgrade to a larger size!  Photos must be your own, or taken by a family member giving permission to post the photo and allowing me to use as a painting reference.

Here are the photo requirements:

Photo of one cat per photo should be a close up. A little background around the cat is fine, but he/she should take up approx.  3/4’s of the photo.  Photo should have a good range of lights and darks, show the cat’s eyes/expression and capturing his/her personality.

If you know other people who would like to participate in the contest and have a chance at winning an original painting, please like and share this post and  my Artist Facebook page and the original post for the contest!

Jan. 2016 Daily Paintings: Day 12 “Cat Wine Time”

I am a bit behind in posting for the 30 Paintings in 30 Days, but have been painting each day and am working on catching up with photos and postings.  This painting is my Day 12 painting, but I wanted to get my Day 13 painting, “Roxy”, posted on her birthday.

I bought these bottles of wine about a year or two ago.  I couldn’t resist the cats!  This painting was a bit of a challenge.  Funny how some paintings just come together and click and others go through a “difficult” period before they come together.  I’ll probably go back into it once the oil paint dries a little bit, but for now I am finished with it and moving on.  I’ll re-post after I make any changes, and please add your thoughts below.

Note: Framing can be added so the painting is ready to hang, for an additional charge depending on frame. And for the Challenge, I will ship within Canada & U.S. for free or include a wood frame if you purchase a “30 Day Painting” during January, 2015 using “Buy Now” or your winning bid is over $100.  Let me know your preference.

Jan. Daily Paintings Day 28: “Tawny”

My Day 28 painting for the 30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge is “Tawny”. Tawny is our little barn cat.  She used to be a bit shy, but in recent years has been following us around and quite vocal.  We figure she is probably blind or close to blind i her left eye, which is probably why she stays safe in the hay mow and close to home.

Jan. Daily Painting Day 25: Benny

My Day 25 painting for the 30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge is “Benny”. Benny is one of our three black cats who immigrated to Canada with us.  Funny that people often ask how we tell them apart, yet they are so different! Benny steals the other cats food by grabbing the bowl with his paw and dragging it toward him.  We nickname him “Salvador Ben Ben” because with his large eyes and curled up whiskers, he reminds us of Salvador Dali.

Jan. Daily Painting Day 13: “Gabby”

My Day 13 painting for the 30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge is “Gabby”. Gabby is one of our three studio cats. She and her sisters were rescue kittens from Ker Church, a location in which Wendy was commissioned to create artwork for the Niagara HERE project. She was originally named Gabriel after the archangel by our daughters, but renamed when Wendy realized the girls were mistaken on the sex of the kitten.  She is the most outgoing of the studio cats with visitors.
