Growing up in Glasgow, Scotland, Wendy was exposed to a variety of wonderful architecture. She is attracted to the strong angles, contrast in value, and variety of textures, She often contracts the strong linear aspects of architectural form with natural elements nearby. She paints in an expressive style with a strong use of colour.

Wendy has loved animals all her life. She was always bringing home some animal when she was young. Around 13, she built a cat shelter with her friend in an old, unused boiler room behind a church in Glasgow, to house feral cats, tame them and get them homes. At university she rescued orphaned baby rabbits from the campus, fed them with an eye dropper and released them back the to woods near campus after they were eating on their own. Animals needing help continue to find her, and often become the subject of her artwork. She paints in an expressive style with a strong use of colour.

I’ve done several 30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenges over the years. The challenge of completing a painting in one day really keeps the painting keep me loose and from overworking a painting. Creating daily paintings helps me to work out ideas and these smaller painting often become studies for larger works.
