My Day 7 painting for the 30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge is “Highland Cow”. This is one of the Highland cows I came across in West Lincoln about 20 minutes from our farm. I was excited to see a small herd of highland cattle here in Ontario, Canada. I introduced myself to the owner and his little daughter and asked if I could take reference photos of his cows, explaining that I was an artist and Scottish, so had a special affinity to highland cattle. He agreed and even stopped by in his van on his way out to see how I was making out, driving off when he saw me in the pasture getting along with my new friends. Highland Calf and Highland Moo, are two paintings I completed last year of two other highland cows in this small herd.
