Canada Day Artisan Market in Niagara Falls

I will be at the Queen St. Artisan Market in Niagara Falls for Canada Day on July 1st!. They will be closing the street to traffic, and there will be lots to see and do! My daughter will be joining me and will also have her artwork for sale. We’ll be there from 10am to 4pm. Our booth is in the Artisan Market area, near Roberts Jewelers.

Festivities end at 4pm but the band at City Hall continues until 6pm.
Queen St. will be closed to vehicle traffic during the festival and officially reopens at 7pm.

We also will have a few Adirondack chairs and flowers set in in the Artisan area for visitors to sit and enjoy the artwork while they contemplate what they will buy!
And we will also be offering a public mural and print making art for free!

Stop by to see me and have a wonderful Canada Day!

Port Colborne Art Crawl 2019

It is almost Summer and Port Colborne Art Crawl is this Saturday, the first Saturday of Summer!  I will have a tent up this year and will be having a Glass Painting Fundraiser. I will artwork on display for sale, hand-painted glasses, a Paint Party painting sale, and will be taking orders for my new Pet Portrait packages.  Stop by to say hello!

Update: We changed the location and added options for the glass painting fundraiser.  Come to my tent and paint a pair or a single glass, or purchase already painted ones, and $5 from each glass will go to a local charity chosen by the PC Art Crawl committee. Get more information and register on the registration page.

We were originally going to hold the event at Breakwall Brewing Co., but you can still sample a flight of the wonderful local brews at Breakwall Brewing Co. while at Art Crawl. Enjoy lunch or supper, and their craft brews. They have a great variety of delicious food, including vegan and gluten-free options.

With all the rain, we have had this Spring, we are hoping for a dry Art Crawl this year! Thanks to our artist friends and colleagues and our merchant neighbours,  There will be another Art Battle this year.  It will be a fun day with a lot of art and entertainment to enjoy!

“Emmett” at Small Feats Art Show & Sale 2019

I have been a member of the Niagara Artists Centre (NAC) and participated in the annual Small Feats Art Show & Sale since 2012.  It is always a great event, and has gotten bigger and better each year.  For the 2019 Small Feats Art Show & Sale, I decided on the theme of Farm Rescue Animals.  However, since I have been so busy with other events,  I only had time to complete one painting for Small Feats this year, but I will be continuing the series, so watch for more posts on new paintings in my series.

emmett-pig-painting-malowany“Emmett”, oil on canvas, 12″X12″, will be up for sale at the Small Feats Show on April 6th.  Emmett is one of Mae’s babies, rescued and living at Grey’s Haven Farm Sanctuary in Port Colborne. I have done a Paint Your Pet Fundraiser for Grey’s Haven, and we are planning another fundraiser event for them in May. Check out all they do and their animals on their Facebook page.

And if you have not been to Small Feats before, you have missed out! With over one hundred and twenty NAC Member artists participating who have created works of art for Niagara’s largest and most energetic art sale on Saturday 6 April at NAC in Downtown St. Catharines, you don’t want to miss it! Here are the details:

Every year NAC challenges their artist members to create fantastic visual art confined to an area no larger than one square foot—all for sale for $200. In 2017 NAC introduced the addition, Big Feats, with artwork varying in size and all way bigger than a square foot for sale at $800.

And 2019 brings a whole new suite of works – $50 silk screened prints hand made at the NAC Studio Shop. There’s something for every art collector at SMALL FEATS!

The annual SMALL FEATS show and sale is NAC’s largest art fundraiser and an assured rocking good time in beautiful downtown St. Catharines.

Every year artists respond to the call—and to the efforts and talents of their peers—and every year the show gets larger and the art gets stronger. Each of the contributing artists has generously chosen to split half or donate all of the proceeds to NAC, Niagara’s friendly neighbourhood, charitably registered artist-run centre.

March 2019 Photo Contest: Cats

gabby-cat-painting-malowanyJanuary I held a photo contest, with the theme of dogs, and it was great to see all the photos, and very difficult to judge! Last month’s theme was Winter, and for March the theme is Cats, so post your best photos!  You need to post your photos on my original Facebook post or Artist Facebook page.  I realized in January some people posted photos on a shared post in a group instead of the original post or my Artist Facebook page, and I missed some photos! Make sure you read the photo requirements here, then use the link to my Artist Facebook page to “like” and “share”.

The winner will get one free 6″x6″ original painting, or can upgrade to a larger size!  Photos must be your own, or taken by a family member giving permission to post the photo and allowing me to use as a painting reference.

Here are the photo requirements:

Photo of one cat per photo should be a close up. A little background around the cat is fine, but he/she should take up approx.  3/4’s of the photo.  Photo should have a good range of lights and darks, show the cat’s eyes/expression and capturing his/her personality.

If you know other people who would like to participate in the contest and have a chance at winning an original painting, please like and share this post and  my Artist Facebook page and the original post for the contest!

January Photo Contest Winner: Sadie

For the month of January I held a photo contest. Since January is my dog’s birthday month, the theme for January was Dogs!  Everyone posted their dog photos on my Facebook post, and I  had the daunting task of picking the winner.  I had no idea how hard picking winners for this photo contest would be!  Thank you to all who entered the contest – your dogs are all beautiful!  If your dog didn’t make the “winners”, “finalists” or “contenders” list, it is no reflection on your dog, but could be the clarity of the photo, or even the format.

The winner was Sadie, and her owner wins this  original  6″x6″painting!

“Sadie”, 6″x6″, acrylic on canvas

Sadie’s owner shared her story with me:

Sadie came into our lives ten years ago as our first family dog. She is smart, energetic, happy and a tad bit stubborn! She is full of personality and always keeps us on our toes. Her friendly nature brings a smile to everyone she meets. You could say she is an all-season dog as she loves playing in the snow in the winter just as much as she loves swimming or being outside in the summer. She will be ten years old this year, but she is still a playful puppy at heart! – Kait B.

Congratulations Kait!  And for those who didn’t win this time, follow my blog and  Artist facebook page for more contests and a chance to win.
