My Day 11 painting for the 30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge is “Mikki”. Mikki is one of our three studio cats. She and her sisters were rescue kittens from Ker Church, a location in which Wendy was commissioned to create artwork for the Niagara HERE project. We nicknamed her “Hissy Face” because she would hiss whenever we came near her.  She was originally named Michael by our daughter, who thought she was a male cat, naming the three cats after the church – Gabriel, Michael and Kersty. When Wendy took a closer look and realised she and Gabriel were female, they were renamed Mikki and Gabby. Mikki has became a really loving cat who is quite vocal in her demands for attention from Wendy.  She still remains rather aloof toward art students.
